Finally something new to share!

Hello, friends! Life has gotten in the way yet again. It hasn’t been raining, it’s been pouring, almost constantly since last fall. Since we don’t have anyone graduating this year, and we aren’t in any play practices, and some crazy unexpected but necessary home improvements are wrapping up, we feel like we can start thinking about our website and upcoming sale again.

I’m hoping to find an affordable source for helping with this website. There’s only so much I can do, and my husband, a computer nerd, is so busy with work, photography, and life… and really this kind of website is not up his alley, though he has helped with what I’ve been able to get on here so far. If you know someone who can help and would like prayers and some free product in payment, let me know!!

Our “Spring into Summer” sale is going to be Friday to Saturday, June 13-14, at our home. We will try to have a website sale that weekend as well, but no promises. We will also be setting up some of our wares at our neighborhood garage sale from May 15-17 (along with fresh-squeezed lemonade, homemade treats, and plenty of items for purchase).

Please contact us using our contact page if you are in the Kansas City metro and would like to attend one of our sales. I will provide the home address to parties who can prove they are legit. 😉

Sorry for the Delay! AND We are now offering Sewing Lessons!

Welcome to our website! We want to apologize for the delay in getting this thing up and running – SORRY! Life always tends to get in the way. Two of the three of us who sew and craft are in a play at the end of June, and have been going to play practices 3 nights a week (ay-ay-ay!), and thus have had very little time for sewing.

BUT! We wanted to let you all know, you can still order something from us, though it might take longer than usual to get your order completed, at least through June. This website is a bit unique in that we won’t usually have a running inventory, but rather categories of the types of things we make. We will probably post pictures of things we make frequently or some of the more popular items, which may or may not be available in the same print and fabric, but we are happy to send photos of the fabrics we have on hand at any time for the project you need (or if it is not a sewing project, we will be in touch about other aspects). Please either contact us using our contact page or send a direct email to info@sewmodestkc.com

We are excited to announce something that is on the table — sewing lessons. Our booth at the MPE homeschool conference in April was a success, and one of the questions we received several times was, “Do you teach sewing/Would you consider giving lessons?”  We decided that we would like to offer lessons on a limited basis. And to get everyone started on the right foot, the first lesson is only going to be $5 (plus $3 for each additional family member, not to exceed $14 per family), to cover our gasoline and a few materials. We will be offering these as group lessons at some local libraries or churches. If you want to continue lessons, you can arrange that with us on an as needed basis. Lessons will always be cheaper if they are in a group, but private lessons will necessarily cost more. We have not settled on a cost at this time, but we will come to an agreement on that by the time we arrange for some first-time group lessons. We are also willing to barter for certain items.

What I need from our visitors here is a sort of RSVP, if you will. We need to know which areas of the KC metro to look for a library or church in which to hold our lessons. If your church is willing to host something like this, get in touch with us and after settling on a date and time, you are welcome to publicize it within your community, as well as invite friends or family. We don’t want the group to be so large that it becomes unmanageable, so please limit these groups to no more than 10 students (we can arrange to do more than one first-time class per location if the interest is high, perhaps even back-to-back), and attendees must be at least 7 years old, able to read, able to sit still and listen to and follow directions. Anyone under 10 should be accompanied by an adult, whose presence will merely be to supervise behavior, but said adult could also take the class. These classes are for beginners. Anyone with basic sewing skills but not much more, you can arrange for a private lesson; after just a few of these you will likely be up and running, not really needing our help anymore. Please contact us if you are interested in one of these classes.

Thanks for visiting. We hope you like what you find here!

Hello, world!

My daughters and I are on a mission to sew, crochet, and craft like crazy, and share our creativity with others. I hope you will like what we have to offer. The website will be up and running in the next couple weeks (I hope!).

We will have some limited inventory as well as taking orders for specific items. There will be patterns to choose from, or you can purchase your own and provide it to us if you like. You can also ask if we have a specific pattern if you don’t see it here on the site. In addition to apparel for women, children, and dolls, we will have crocheted items, jewelry, rosaries, and hopefully more soon. Most of the time I can reply to inquiries within minutes to hours. Occasionally it might be next day.

Both of my older daughters are very talented in multiple crafts, and we are trying new things all the time, so we expect the variety of our wares to grow. We hope the youngest daughter will join us when she is old enough. For now, it’s Mom plus the dynamic duo. Please check back with us soon, and feel free to contact us using the Contact Us page.
